Constitution of the Independent Mortgage Brokers Association of Ontario
NAME
The name of the Association shall be the Independent Mortgage Brokers Association of Ontario, which may also be referred to by use of the acronym, ‘IMBA’ or the word, the ‘Association’.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the Association is a privilege, not a right.
PURPOSE
The Association is organized to advance the role of Mortgage Brokers and Mortgage Agents, and to represent their unique interests to borrowers, lenders, legislators and regulators in the province of Ontario.
STRENGTH OF INDEPENDENCE
The Association combines the strength of the independence of each Member in providing choice to borrowers and lenders, their knowledge in real estate financing matters and their experience.
STANDARDS
The Association shall act as a proponent of superior standards of integrity and service for its Members in their dealings.
PRACTICES
The Association supports the development and implementation of superior practices by its Members.
KNOWLEDGE
The Association supports the continuous improvement of the knowledge of its Members in matters relating to the conduct of their business.
FORUM FOR MEMBERS
The Association shall provide a forum for its Members to express their common interests and concerns and to assist them to communicate their comments.
COUNSEL
The Association’s resources shall be employed to provide counsel to Members, borrowers, lenders, regulators and legislators with respect to principles, practices and procedures in the mortgage lending marketplace.
